I came to this country 20 years ago with $200 in my pocket. I wanted to have my American dream so I worked very hard to achieve it. After years working as a waitress then manager, I became an owner of Bettola Restaurant on Upper West Side NYC, where I put all my life savings.
On March 15th, all restaurants were limited to Food Take-out and Delivery. After closely following coronavirus pandemic updates, I had decided to temporarily shut down our beloved Bettola for the health and safety of our loyal staff – our family. In particular because of my Chef and partner Vlado’s heart condition and the danger he was facing.
Two weeks later Vlado said, “I feel horrible, people are putting their lives on the line, we got to go back.” On April 15th we re-opened our doors to be there for our community and First Responders of NYC.
We all are living in heartbreaking times and Great Uncertainty. Restaurant owners are taking a huge hit with continued expenses and high NYC Commercial Rents. What is forcing us to turn to our friends, patrons, and the general public is that although I applied for a Federal Small Business loan at the bank the first day it was offered, like many other small business owners I, unfortunately, did not receive one before the program ran out of funds.
Today we are asking for your help!
We are starting this fundraiser to help us keep Bettola alive as a business. To rehire our staff and at the same time to give back to our community and making and delivering meals to first responders. I wish we could do more but we have very limited resources.
Your donation can make the difference, help us survive until life can return back to normal!
We need your support like never before.
I will be eternally grateful for your Generosity.
Please give through GoFundMe here.
