A new year means a new opportunity to cross something off your bucket list. If you’ve been wanting to take Hebrew lessons, you’re in luck—the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is New York City’s premier location for learning modern conversational Hebrew.
The Israeli Ulpan method and materials focus on modern Hebrew, which will allow you to use your Hebrew skills in many contexts, whether you are traveling to Israel, conversing with family or friends, or participating in synagogue activities. Classes focus on learning and improving Hebrew language skills, including speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing. The Ulpan method has seen demonstrated success across the US and internationally, including with new immigrants to Israel.
Ulpan is an excellent opportunity to learn Hebrew for everyone from complete beginners to those looking to brush up on existing skills. There is a class for every level of experience, and students come from many backgrounds. The JCC’s intimate classes provide a nonjudgmental and supportive environment for students at all levels.
One participant decided to take Ulpan classes to refresh Hebrew skills from childhood. “It is such an enjoyable way to spend two hours each week—the teacher and other students are so supportive, even when I feel self-conscious or uncertain. I have definitely seen a difference in my confidence speaking Hebrew,” she says.
Winter/spring semester classes begin Mon, Feb 10. Sign up by Jan 24 to receive $25 off with code ULPWS20. For more information and to view the winter/spring schedule, click here.
