Three teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 approached a 72-year-old man who was sitting on a bench on 88th Street inside Central Park on Wednesday around 11:10 p.m., according to NYPD.
One of the men was holding a golf club, as explained in the poster above pasted to a subway pole by the Guardian Angels. NYPD confirmed the account above, while adding some details. The teens demanding money and rifled through the man’s pockets, but ran away when he called for police.
Police say the crime was classified as an attempted robbery. (They also noted that the man was a local, not a tourist, as described by the Guardian Angels.) The vicitim refused medical attention.
NYPD’s Crimestoppers number is 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
