This weekend is packed with events, and we wanted to highlight three unique ones.
Saturday, 12 to 2 p.m.: Love Your Street Tree Day is put on by the West 80’s Neighborhood Association. Meet at the at the Urban Assembly School for Green Careers (Amsterdam Avenue at 84th Street) and “receive a free tree care goodie bag with gardening supplies, curb your dog sign, and other gifts. Mulch, compost, flowers and pails will be provided too!”
Saturday, 2-4 p.m.: The West 111th Street People’s Garden is holding a special event showcasing the work of local artist Leander Knust, who used reclaimed construction material and garden plants and animals to make an installation called Re-Material Wall. “Leander’s presentation will be followed by a discussion on changes occurring in our neighborhood by members of the Morningside Heights Community Coalition.”
Saturday, all day: The Bloomingdale School of Music is holding its perform-a-thon, where students play music in two locations to raise money for scholarships. From 9:30 to 2 they’ll be at TD Bank at Brpadway and 109th and from 2 to 7 they’ll be performing in the school library at 323 West 108th Street. There will also be a carnival at the school from 1 to 4.
