One of the great Central Park traditions is back.
The New York Philharmonic will play a concert on Central Park’s Great Lawn on Monday night at 8 followed by fireworks. Led by Alan Gilbert, the philharmonic will play Dvorak’s cello concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony Number 5. To get to the Great Lawn, which stretches from about 79th to about 85th street in the middle of the park, enter the park at 81st street or 86th street and Central Park West.
This is the only classical philharmonic concert this summer in Central Park, although the orchestra did play baseball-themed music at a benefit concert on Saturday with Mariah Carey for the All-Star game.
