The Public Theater has begun performances of “Comedy of Errors”, although they are still in “preview” mode, meaning that the play may still be tweaked in the coming weeks. That said, it’s a good chance to check it out while the lines to get a ticket aren’t too bad.
To get seats, you can wait in line for tickets on the path leading up to the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Tickets get handed out at noon, but the line tends to form much earlier. More on that here.
You can also try to get them online, but you’ll have to get lucky. Here’s how. Performances start at 8:30.
As the Public describes it, Comedy of Errors is about “two sets of identical twins who were separated as children and now live as master-servant pairs in rival neighboring cities. When one pair crosses the border to find the other, so begins an exquisitely enjoyable mess of mistaken identity, wrongful imprisonment, questionable flirting and general mayhem!” It stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson of Modern Family and Hamish Linklater.
The crowd lined up this morning was reasonable, probably a couple hundred people as of 9:30 a.m. It can get insane when stars like Anne Hathaway are featured.
