Ten Upper West Siders have been robbed since January, possibly by a single suspect, according to police. The suspect, depicted at right, tends to target young men and women and follow them into their buildings before confronting them with a knife or gun, DNAinfo reported.
The robberies have occurred in buildings from 85th street to 109th street, and have generally occurred at night or in the early morning. The most recent robbery was recorded on March 24, when a 24-year-old man was held up at knifepoint inside his building at 244 West 109th street. Among the other buildings targeted were 72 W. 88th St., 698 Amsterdam Ave. near 94th, and 330 W. 85th Street, where two women were robbed.
“Police described the suspect as black male, between 25 to 40 years old, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-11 and between 130 to 170 pounds,” CBS reported.
