7-Eleven’s invasion of the Upper West Side is proceeding according to plan, with the second slurpee-riffic location currently holding its grand opening on the corner of 89th Street and Columbus Avenue. It replaced Kosher restaurant Darna. The other local 7-Eleven is on Amsterdam and 92nd.
It is a full munchie emporium: the store offers $1 pizza slices and 2 glazed donuts for $1, and has two freezers packed with beer.
The 7-Eleven also sells disposable e-cigarettes, which “simulate the act of tobacco smoking by producing an inhaled mist bearing the physical sensation, appearance, and often the flavor and nicotine content of inhaled tobacco smoke.” But be warned: one just reportedly exploded in a smoker’s mouth.
