An eyewitness video we posted below shows how a river of water rushed through the Upper West Side after a water main broke on Monday morning at 11 a.m. near the intersection of 106th Street and Central Park West. The flood put at least four subway lines out of commission in the neighborhood — the A, B, C and D. Some people who live in the area told me that their water was brown; supposedly when a line breaks like that, other lines kick in to supply the buildings and stir up sediment that ends up coming out of peoples’ pipes. The DEP told DNAinfo that it isn’t dangerous.
