The American Folk Art Museum’s midtown headquarters has closed, making the Upper West Side location at 2 Lincoln Square on 66th Street the new headquarters. And events that used to be held at the midtown branch, like Free Music Fridays, are moving to the Upper West Side. The museum sent me a letter to hand deliver to all of you. Check it out below:
To the Upper West Side,
We at the American Folk Art Museum would like to greet our Upper West Side neighbors! Until a little over two weeks ago, our main location could be found at 53rd St. in Midtown. However, we have transitioned our main space to what was formerly our branch location at 2 Lincoln Square. While many of you on the Upper West Side may already be familiar with the gallery space and the gift/book shop in this  location, we are glad to inform you that our full schedule of programming will now take place right here within this thriving neighborhood, and to invite all those unfamiliar with the space to come in and get to know us! Admission is always free. We would love to see you every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 pm for our educational tours of the exhibitions in this space, as well as our free Friday evening and Wednesday afternoon music programs. Please check our calendar for specifics! In addition we are booking tours for our current exhibition, Super Stars Quilts, which will be on view until the fall.
Throughout our five decades, we at the American Folk Art Museum have been renowned and praised for the innovative exhibitions and programming we have produced. Â We are enthusiastic to bring that history to the Upper West Side, to become an active part of the non-profit programming in the area, and to welcome the diverse and remarkable residents we happily find ourselves among.
Come on in!
