Have you noticed that 1 trains don’t seem to be coming as frequently? I thought at first that I was just becoming more impatient, but it turns out that the MTA cut service without telling anyone or holding hearings.
NY1 reported that the MTA reduced the number of rush hour trains per hour on the 1 line to 16 from 18, and the number of off-peak trains to a range of 9 to 11 an hour from a range of 10 from 12. A spokesman said that the agency is just reducing service to account for decreased ridership in the summer, and it will generally result in waits of about 30 seconds more. It just feels longer.
Also, I was subjected to the scene below on a train this weekend, which makes me never want to leave the house again.
