Cafe Ronda, a Latin bistro on Columbus Avenue between 71st and 72nd Street that serves tapas was closed by the Department of Health on Monday for a variety of sanitary violations. Unlike other recent closures, no critters were found. It seems like the restaurant’s biggest problem is keeping foods at he right temperatures. Here are the violations below:
Sanitary Violations
1) Cold food item held above 41º F (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 ºF) except during necessary preparation.
2) Appropriately scaled metal stem-type thermometer or thermocouple not provided or used to evaluate temperatures of potentially hazardous foods during cooking, cooling, reheating and holding.
3) Insufficient or no refrigerated or hot holding equipment to keep potentially hazardous foods at required temperatures.
4) Plumbing not properly installed or maintained; anti-siphonage or backflow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly.
Everyone I take to Ronda loves it and I am a very frequent customer. Please get this stuff fixed so we can dine there again ASAP!
Didnt you just read what it said?? Why would you be dying to go back? Cough-cough its unsanitary.
