Two people were wounded by gunfire Tuesday night at around 8:40 p.m. in front of 589 Amsterdam Avenue at West 89th Street, an NYPD spokesperson told West Side Rag.
A man, 27, was shot in the chest, and a woman, 40, was shot in the right hand, by an unidentified shooter who fled the scene. Both were taken to Mt. Sinai Morningside (St. Luke’s) Hospital, and are listed in stable condition. Police added that there may have been a gray sedan seen leaving the location.
“Authorities found a gun under a parked vehicle,” according to Eyewitness News, which spoke to the woman who owns the SUV. ‘I heard four shots and ran in to see if my husband had heard. And he said, ‘Yeah, I heard! I’m gonna go down and see what it was.’ And lo and behold, look what happened!’ Allison Eden said. ‘It’s pretty scary, because I have children, and I live in the neighborhood. In less than a half an hour there were two shootings, there was a robbery and now my car is a crime scene.’”
The investigation is ongoing.
