The Upper West Side is getting new kids’ clothes, bagels, and more. But a beloved local store is closing at the end of the month after 49 years.

A new kids’ clothing store called Monica and Andy is opening at 410 Columbus Avenue near 79th Street, the former hime of Alexis Bittar. Monica & Andy is hiring, and you can contact them at careers@monicaandandy.com.

Columbus Bagel Cafe opened this week at 472 Columbus Avenue between 82nd and 83rd Streets. It’s got the same ownership as Jumbo Bagels in midtown, said Moe, the manager.As of next week, they plan to be open 24 hours a day seven days a week, one of just a handful of round-the-clock restaurants in the neighborhood. The shop sells bagels, sandwiches and salads and is the third new bagel store to open in the neighborhood in the past six months. Thanks to Lisa Kampf Lopez for the photo and tip.

Liberty House a clothing, jewelry, and gift shop at 112th and Broadway, is getting ready to close at the end of the month after 49 years, as we first reported a few months ago. “Shop through April 27 for the last chance to have a Liberty House keepsake from their well-curated collection of African masks and mudcloths, Afghanistani spice boxes, Swat Valley furniture, Japanese cast iron objects, plus gift items and textiles.”

As Suzanne Creamer wrote to us: “This is a beloved store; customers are bringing in baked goods and chocolate like there’s been a death in the family…Liberty House is a clothing and jewelry boutique that has always featured local artists, some of whose art work hangs in the store as well as art to wear, hand-made fine jewelry, Swat Valley hand-painted furniture, African masks, and a stunning collection of painted Afghanistan spice boxes, all on sale now. Sadness and celebration all at the same time, until April 27th.”

Savor Beauty and Spa is opening at 488 Columbus Avenue at 81st Street on April 22. They describe themselves as “organic skincare meets Korean beauty rituals in a NY minute.” Angela Jia Kim, a concert pianist, founded the company in 2007 after “she broke out from a natural lotion before a performance. She originally created organic anti-aging creams in her Manhattan kitchen for herself, her mom and sisters.” On opening day you can bring in a full bottle of “non-natural” skin care product and get a Savor Beauty equivalent product for 25% off.

Acuity NYC, the optometric practice of Dr. Viola Kanevsky, currently located at 527 Columbus Avenue between 85th and 86th, will be moving around May 1 to 65 Central Park West, between 66th and 67th Streets.
