At a special event on Friday, the New York Society for Ethical Culture is presenting Planned Parenthood the Ethical Humanist Award on Planned Parenthood’s 100th anniversary. The society has explained the event and its mission below:
We are using the event to host a panel discussion with outstanding panelists from the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, Catholics for Choice, Fusion.net, Physicians for Reproductive Health and the Center for Reproductive Rights discussing the “Politicizing of Women’s Reproductive Health and Sexuality. What we can do about it?”
The event is on Friday, September 30th at 7 p.m. Coincidentally September 30th is also the 40th year of the Hyde Amendment which was the first anti-abortion legislation after Roe v. Wade targeting poor women and women of color.
The event is free. There is a fee for the reception catered by the men and women from the culinary school at the Fortune Society, an organization that helps formerly incarcerated men and women with skills and opportunities to better their lives.
To register for free tickets go to https://ethicalhumanistaward.eventbrite.com or call 212-874-5210 x113. It costs $35 if you also want to attend the cocktail party afterwards ($25 for members).
