The BID is holding the event to bring the diverse community out to celebrate summer and to showcase some great local restaurants and organizations involved in making this such an attractive community.
The Bloomingdale neighborhood name is part of the neighborhood’s history, which included Bloomingdale Road, Bloomingdale Village, and Bloomingdale Square. The latest is Bloomingdale Restaurants, which seeks to promote all restaurants between 96th and 110th streets from park to park. There is a vibrant and varied restaurant culture north of 96th street, with mixed and wide-ranging flavors and dishes that are difficult to find elsewhere. Come try some of them out on Sunday: Isola on Columbus, Crepes on Columbus, Shahi Biryani, Miss Mamie’s Spoonbread Too, Freda’s Caribbean & Soul Cuisine, Curry King, Bistro Ten18, Tropical Sensation, and Casa Mexicana will be providing tastes from their menus. $3 gets you a small portion of food, $10 gets you four. You can pre-purchase tickets at the BID, 991 Amsterdam Ave or at their station on the day of the event.
Well, here we go again! It’s summer in the city! Time to visit the same potted plants that were for sale last summer! maybe pick up another pair of ty-dyed jeans, and a couple of pairs of sweat socks. Don’t know about anybody else, but I’m already looking forward to Labor Day! Have fun, Y’all!
This is a very different kind of street fair than the traditional ones! WSR
Hostelling International USA – NYC will also be there. As a Bloomingdale neighborhood icon in the historic gothic red building on Amsterdam Ave. between 103rd and 104th streets, we host about a quarter-million overnights from around the world in a youth hostel setting. Stop by and say hi to Shannon and Glendaliz!
