A 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the neck while playing dice outside the Douglass Houses around West 103rd street on Friday, July 18 at about 11:30 p.m., according to Captain Marlon Larin of the 24th precinct.
Police, who arrived before EMS, transported the boy to the hospital, likely saving his life by doing so, Larin said. “Had my officers not personally transported him to the hospital we would’ve lost him completely.” The victim is stable and recovering.
The stabbing may have been related to a dispute over the dice game, but police were still determining the motive as of Wednesday.
Police have a “person of interest” in the case, but have been asking Upper West Siders if they know anything about the case. A van went around a few days ago and broadcast a request for more information.
