If you’re a meat and potatoes kind of person, this post may not appeal to you. The Upper West Side is getting more treats and health food delivered in liquid form.
And no, the frozen yogurt craze hasn’t died entirely. There’s actually a new store opening in the middle of a cold front. Two scoops please!
GreenForce: A new juice bar is opening on Broadway between 81st and 82nd streets. It’s expected to open in the spring, according to its website. Thanks to Jillian for the tip and Greg for the photo.
Macaron Parlour: A new cafe serving macarons, the little French confection, is set to open on February 6 at 560 Columbus Avenue, between 87th and 88th streets. The couple behind the business set up their first shop in 2012 on St. Mark’s Place. They’re currently running a Kickstarter campaign for the new shop so they can buy an espresso machine and a nicer display case. They’ve got some intriguing offerings:
“[T]he patisserie will feature a full Blue Bottle espresso bar, not just pour over coffee.
They’ll also serve their famous macarons (the line features both traditional flavors and quirky infusions, ranging from the savory to the sweet), and other best-selling pastries – kitchen sink cookies (gluten-free), bacon, gruyere and scallion scones, tomato pesto pretzels, cheesecake, chocolate chip fleur de sel cookies, pastries like the crème brûlée and s’mores doughnuts, and a croissant that even impresses native French speakers!
Yogurtland: Another yogurt shop is set to open at 795 Columbus Avenue at 98th street on Thursday. Given that it’s opening in the midst of a very nasty cold snap, the owners have launched a clever marketing campaign:
“To celebrate the new Yogurtland location, guests at this location will receive free ounces of yogurt as the temperature drops. When the temperature is between 40 – 50 degrees, guests will receive 2 ounces free. Temperatures between 35 – 40 degrees mean 3 free ounces, and between 30 – 34 degrees will mean 4 free ounces. If the temperature drops below 29 degrees, this location will offer guests 5 ounces of free yogurt. Daily temperatures reported by The Weather Channel will serve as the official temperatures for the promotion.”
Thanks to Paul for the tip.
Yummmmm very excited to try the macarons!
Macaron Parlour? Yogurtland? News? How insignificant can we go?
Why be nasty? This is a hyper-local site that does a great job of sharing all kind of news about our neighborhood. If you don’t want to read about the new food offerings, then don’t click on the link. Plenty of more serious topics are tackled here as well so leave the fun food news for those of us who do care about stuff like that.
Didn’t realize this was CNN.
If the owners are reading this, might I make a suggestion?
Put yourselves on seamless.com, delivery.com, etc. Trust me: You’ll get tons of business! (Well, at least from me!) 🙂

I for one will be enjoying a Blue Bottle coffee in February. One of the only decent things about San Francisco! 🙂
Will there be a minimum purchase at yogurt land during this promotion?
Two others that seem to be missing from a lot of the giod for you recipes is:
ease and selection: both off which are offered up in the
Hungry Girl cook books. s behavioral problem. Somehow having their own space eases
the separation anxiety that most dogs experience.
These macarons are well worth the trip! My daughters and I basically devoured them!
Pistachio, Hazelnut, Strawberry, absolutely yummy!!!!!
Welcome to the neighborhood!!!!!!!
Thank you for stopping by!!!
