On Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 10am to 8pm, Council Member Gale A. Brewer (D-Manhattan) is hosting the NYU College of Dentistry’s “Smiling Faces, Going Places” Dental Care Van in front of PS 84, located at 32 West 92 Street. The van will also be available on May 15, 2013. The Dental Van, a fully equipped dental office on wheels, can provide the following services: examinations and necessary x-rays; preventative services including cleaning, fluoride, sealants, and oral hygiene instructions; fillings and simple tooth extractions (permission form required) for children ages 6 months to 15 years old.
NYU’s Dental Van hit the streets in January of 2000, becoming the first dental facility on wheels to travel through New York City and beyond to treat children with limited access to oral health care. The NYU Dental Van Team annually provides dental services to over 5,000 children. Their services are an asset to the community, helping to lower the barriers that low-income families face in gaining access to dental care.
