Expanding a tradition that was rekindled last year, West End Collegiate Church will be throwing two block parties this summer, the first of which will take place on Saturday, June 29 from 12-6 pm.
As always, all are welcome — but we especially want to celebrate our LGBTQ+ families and friends, many of whom have not always felt welcomed by houses of worship. So expect a warm, family-friendly affair where community members can experience the simple joy of a city street filled with games for children, water play, good food, live music, and plenty of spots to sit and catch up with friends and neighbors…because happy summer memories are something that all families deserve. This is a joyous gift that West End gladly gives the community, no strings attached.
If you’re not able to join us, please mark your calendar for our second community block party, to be held Wednesday, August 14th from 5-9 pm.
WHO: All, with a special invitation to our LGBTQ+ neighbors
WHAT: Summer block party with games, bounce house, food trucks, and live music
WHERE: West 77th street between Broadway and West EndÂ
WHEN: 12-6 pm (street closure begins 10 am)
WHY: Because everyone is welcome, and everyone belongs!
Very excited! It’s great to have this church organizer! We will admire Dutch architectural design by Robert Gibson.”
