West Side Rag is 13 years old now, long past the time when we should have added an “about us” tab to our home page. There is a tab now, at the far right end of the lineup or at the bottom on your mobile device. If you haven’t checked it out, please do.
You’ll find “our story,” which defines the boundaries of the Upper West Side, as we see them, and lays out our goals for covering the neighborhood (“what we’re really after is the unofficial stories, the ones we haven’t heard before”). We try to be comprehensive in covering politics, crime, real estate, store openings and closings, and much more, but we won’t shy away from a charming tale just because it’s not a burning current issue (see the “absurdity” tab for some examples).
The “about us” tab will also navigate you to short bios on our main contributors. Some have written for the Rag almost since its birth, but new writers approach us all the time.
And if you think you have a good idea to pitch, or a tip about UWS news, or if you want to advertise on the Rag, go to the “contact us” page. We’d love to hear from you!

FWIW, on my laptop clicking on “About Us” simply brought me back to this “About Time” article.
The “About Us” isn’t actually clickable… you have to select one of the options from the dropdown that appears when you hover over it.
Make sure you click on About Us on the actual website, not in this article
Thanks for all you do.
Thanks, great idea! I really appreciate this and you deserve the kudos. Fantastic hyper local journalism.
It’s really extraordinary to get the service of a major news service for a neighborhood of 65 blocks (67 if Keanu Reeves is dancing in his underwear). Thanks for what you do, and pleased to meet you after knowing you for several years.
