Consignment shopping is the most fabulous and fun way to support sustainability initiatives. By shopping at Consignment on 72nd and similar consignment stores, the consumer is making a conscious decision to support the circular fashion economy and reduce the demand for fast fashion, ultimately lowering the fashion industry’s negative impact on the environment.
Online luxury, secondhand shopping has been popularized by companies like The Real Real and Vestiaire Collective. Yet, there’s something special about boutique shopping. In our post-pandemic world, in-person experiences should be enriching and enjoyable. The decor in Consignment on 72nd is elegant and approachable. “The Consignment on 72nd team is knowledgeable and fun. Our motto is: ‘Only Good Vibes Allowed” and this goes for the staff and customers,” stated Shaffer.
Consignment on 72nd’s success is predicated on the basic economics of Supply and Demand. It will listen and observe the fashion demands of its community of shoppers and supply them with new and pre-loved luxury fashion. Consignment on 72nd will also sell new fashion from Private Label designers. The shopper who believes that style and quality supersede name recognition will find unique pieces at Consignment on 72nd. The store is not a vintage boutique although it will always have a few special luxury vintage pieces.
