A 28-year-old man was stabbed on the Upper West Side this New Year’s Eve, a police spokesperson told West Side Rag.
The man was stabbed by an unknown person about 9 p.m. on Sunday outside of 407 Amsterdam Avenue, which is between West 79th and 80th streets, police said.
The attacker fled in a red car northbound on Amsterdam Avenue, police added. The victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition, NYPD said.
Police did not provide a possible motive for the stabbing.
There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

Need more cops and cameras on UWS.
The city is bankrupt on ineffective policing, more money is not the solution.
It would be very helpful if there was a license plate associated with this car that could then be tracked down. Adding cameras would help with quality of life issues (noise violations), every day safety issues (people speeding and running red lights) and help investigators when major crimes like this occur.
Plenty of both. Money is better spent elsewhere
Disagree that is the best way to spend money
Best neighborhood in the world!
Sure is! Incidents like this are unfortunately and make the news but are in fact very rare. Any place with large numbers of people will have some level of crime. Hope NYPD catch the perpetrator.
Keep telling yourself that. We have a major problem here. Denial doesn’t help anyone.
Sounds like you’re new to New York. If you’d grown up here, you’d know that violent crime in NYC is down about 80% from it’s high in the 1980s. And if you do a bid of research, you’ll find that today NYC has the lowest violent crime rate of any big city in the USA. Facets matter.
It actually is. NYC is not what it used to be in terms of crime. It is actually one of the best big metropolitan cities to live in the world, despite what we hear in the news.
It is better than Portland, Seattle, SF, Chicago, St. Louis, Philly and DC …. But those are pretty low bars!
Google crime rates in America’s 100 biggest cities and you’ll see that NY is around #94.
So no, it’s not just the ones that Rupert Murdoch tells you about. It’s almost all of them.
Well, when crimes are no longer considered crimes, it’s easy to claim your city is nearly crime-free!
New Canaan CT is better than NYC. Just saying.
Do you really see value in comparing a very wealthy, very small town (population ~20,000) to a city of 8 million?
I should have added “/s” to my post. I thought it was obvious that I was being ironical.
Let’s see. People jump from a car, stab someone, and jump back into the car and speed off.
Doesn’t sound random or specific to any neighborhood. Sounds like a hit.
Interesting. If I go 33 mph along Broadway at 120th street, a camera would get my plate and mail me a $50 ticket.
Yet I could go 25 mph, get out and stab someone, get back in and drive away and “NYC” would be none the wiser.
Doesn’t the fact that the police were on the scene and reported the incident to the news media sort of take the wind out of your “none the wiser” comment?
Did the victim provide a physical description of the lowlife?

But crime is getting better. Ha ha.
