A woman slashed a man multiple times in the face Wednesday night on Central Park West, a police spokesperson told West Side Rag.
Rachel Williams, 34, and a 36-year-old man got in a verbal fight around 8 p.m. on West 89th Street and Central Park West, before Williams pulled out an unknown weapon and slashed the man repeatedly, police said.
It is unclear as of Thursday afternoon what started the dispute or if the two people knew each other, according to the NYPD spokesperson.
Williams, a Queens resident, was arrested at the scene and charged with assault, while the man was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition, police said.
UPDATE: October 27, 10 a.m.
The verbal altercation started after Williams accused the man of stepping on her foot, police said. The action caused Williams to become irate, prompting the man to try to run away from her, but she chased him down and began punching him, police said.
Williams then pulled out the unknown weapon and slashed him multiple times in the face and hands, police said.

It would be very informative if the WSR could follow up on this story as developments unfold… will she benefit from bail reform and walk free until the Manhattan DA decides whether this crime is bad enough for her to be prosecuted. Will she then be taken to the court? Will she be found guilty and serve time? Appreciate more updates, thanks
is there a difference as to whether she “benefits from bail reform” and “walks free” until trial, and if she has enough bail and “walks free” until trial?
Assault is a violent crime, and thus not eligible for bail reform. However, people who are not poor routinely get out while awaiting trial. they just make bail.
Sounds like you’re the one who’s not informed abt the reach of bail reform and how it severely raised the bar to keeping alleged criminals in jail, including those accused of violent assaults. Here’s a reminder for you, where yes bail was imposed, but low enough that the perp could walk. https://www.newsweek.com/eric-adams-slams-bail-reform-after-violent-attacker-freed-jail-1766534
that was not “bail reform.” he was assigned bail and posted it.
“Assault isn’t available for bail reform?” Is that why criminals are running free after assaulting and attacking people time and time and time again?
maybe they’re posting bail, as in the case above. But violent crimes are not eligible for 0 bail, unless for some reason the judge decides to gran it.
can people please learn what “bail reform” means and what it includes?
It’s unfortunate that so many people don’t understand what bail reform is, whether or not they would agree with it if they in fact knew what it entails.
Here’s another example of how wonderful bail reform is. I hope it can be opened from NY Daily News:
https://www.nydailynews.com/2023/10/28/man-busted-for-anti-semitic-subway-slugging-beat-grandmother-days-earlier-da-says/
We know what it means. Every time a subway pusher or street homeless finally kills – or seriously injured someone- they’ve been arrested 47 times. They never go to court. The DA does nothing. That’s what we have people shoplifting all day every day.
Bail reform laws eliominated cash bail for misdemeanors and non-violent felonies – NOT violent felonies. The intent was to avoid penalizing those who could not pay vs. those who could. You can argue the merits, but it would not have impacted the perpetrator in this incident.

“This story will be updated when more information is learned.”
My comment was not about merely “updating the story” (like they just did) but to following up and investigating in the months to come on what happens to the criminal, as the WSR has brilliantly done in the past
Charge her at least for assault, if not attempted murder.
