The Riverside Park Conservancy is calling all pup-arazzi to help create their first-ever dog calendar. From now until October 31, the Conservancy is accepting pictures of your dog in Riverside Park for a chance to be featured in the calendar.
“We are paw-sitively thrilled to announce our first-ever calendar featuring the Pups of Riverside Park,” said Merritt Birnbaum, President & CEO of Riverside Park Conservancy, in an email to West Side Rag. “Our four-legged visitors are our most loyal park users, and we’re excited to spotlight them posing throughout our six miles of parkland. This is also a chance for our diverse human and canine communities to come together and fund raise for the dog runs and open spaces they use every day. Plus, we hope by featuring different locations across our 400 acres, the calendar will encourage people and their dogs to explore the full breadth of the Park and discover new favorite spots. Our whole team is looking forward to seeing your pet-tacular submissions!”
Finalists will be announced on November 6, followed by public voting to determine the top 12 lucky doggies that will be featured in the 2024 calendar. In addition to bragging rights, all dog parents will receive a free calendar.
The WSR asked The Conservancy if the Riverside Park “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) competition provided any inspiration for the dog calendar contest, considering the democratic process of voting is involved.
“We take inspiration from all the community engagement projects we do, and the goats are no exception. We’re excited to get neighbors involved in voting once again for another group of beloved four-legged friends,” said a Riverside Park Conservancy spokesperson.
All proceeds from dog calendars sold will go directly to the Riverside Park Conservancy to help improve and maintain their dog runs.
Everyone is welcome to submit up to four photos of their canine. Riverside Park, Fort Washington Park, Sakura Park, Riverside Park South or West Harlem Piers Park are all welcome spaces for pictures of your pooch. Now THIS is the news I want
Such a great idea! I’m entering our pup but I’ll be buying the calendar no matter who wins!
I am submitting pictures of my doggie, but I know nothing about pixels or resolutions. Come on!
