All is grammatically correct at a recently opened Dunkin’ on the Upper West Side — almost.
At the beginning of September, West Side Rag broke the story that the new Dunkin’ outpost at 2264 Broadway, between 81st and 82nd Streets, had misspelled “Upper West Side” on a prominent indoor sign, which read, “UPPER WESTSIDE RUNS ON DUNKIN.”
Multiple Upper West Siders expressed their agitation and frustration to the Rag over the missing space in “West Side.” An employee at the Dunkin’ also said they wished the spelling would be corrected.
On September 13, a spokesperson from Dunkin’s corporate offices said that Upper West Siders should keep an eye out for an updated sign.
Well, that new sign came in sometime last week, as confirmed by the same Dunkin’ employee who the Rag spoke with last month. “It is changed, it is good,” they said, again asking not be named since it was during working hours.
But not all locals were completely satisfied by the change. One X (formerly Twitter) user said “now it’s off-center.” Another pointed out that the sign was “still missing the ‘The'” in The Upper West Side.

On the UWS, everybody’s a critic.
Oh for goodness sake. Is it all UWS residents do is wake up every day and go about looking for things to kvetch about?
I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but I’m on the side of Dunkin’. They put in the effort.
You new here?
We’ll allow it.
I’d be happier if their coffee was stronger.
Yes! Their coffee used to be pretty good, until some years back, they started making it watery-weak. It’s so disappointing. I can’t drink the stuff.
I totally agree! PSA: adding a shot of espresso really helps, if DD is all you have available.
THE Upper West Side, thank you very much.
Sincerely,
A local crank
If they wanted to save money they should have just done UWS Runs on Dunkin
Can someone please just give them an H so they can change the first line of the sign to “THE UWS”. This way it’ll be centered, look less cluttered and all the UWS cranky cranks will be happy.
It’s much better than the Chase branch at 86th and Columbus, which has a sign proudly proclaiming: Welcome to Central Park West.
Hilarious!
UWSers love to complain.
Well, yeah, it IS The Upper West Side. Not Upper West Side. But, like, folks, get a life. Who really cares?????
I left a comment here earlier saying I can’t believe people actually give a dunk about this, and it wasn’t posted. Really? That comment was offensive?
Shame on you West Side Rag for wasting so much time and space on a ridiculous issue!
It’s a valid USW story. We, the commenters, are taking up time and space complaining about complainers who are complaining about complaints.
Lighten up Lucy! It’s local interest piece.
I wish all that we had to discuss was the signage at the local coffee shop, instead of politics, immigration, crime and attacks on Israel. Unfortunately this is not this case.
I welcome the occasional diversion.
I love that everybody is still cranky as hell about this
Dunkin schmunkin
Completely unacceptable!
Starbucks would never have done this to us.
Appalling.
Thank you for the update on this story, Westside Rag!
This is nothing. The Millenium Hotel downtown was spelled incorrectly (with one ‘n’) for years. It wasn’t until the property was destroyed by 9/11 that a rebuilt hotel finally carried the correct sign: Millennium.
also two of the S’s are upside down, this drives me crazy
