Want to skip the 7 train and steep prices for any remaining U.S. Open tickets?
Is ESPN’s tennis coverage still unavailable on your Spectrum cable package due to ongoing negotiations between Charter Communications and Disney?
Craving one more end-of-summer picnic?
You’re in luck, Upper West Siders.
Waterline Square Park at West 60th Street and Freedom Place South offers free, big-screen viewing of upcoming U.S. Open matches during the day and under the stars.
WSR saw plenty of locals enjoying Novak Djokovic vs. Borna Gojo on Sunday evening. “Best seats in the house,” said one woman lounging on her blanket on the park’s synthetic lawn.

Good detailedreporting
Thanks for the information! Given that many of us are currently not getting ESPN because of their dispute with Spectrum, this is a particularly valuable resource!
Wonders of our time – wasn’t so long ago that that entire lot north of the beautiful old (Stanford White designed) Con Ed/IRT building was an enormous parking lot. I mean, I know the waterfront has been changing for decades, and thank goodness for the park, but that was one of the last big pieces and stays with me.
Yes it’s much improved! Parks and housing are better for our neighborhood than parking.
Thank you!
This is great!! Watching The US Open in the open….ahhhh!
Or, since it’s so hot, get a 21-day free trial at You Tube TV! Instant ESPN.
Why only at 60th Street? Couldn’t we have other viewing sites further uptown for those who can’t travel that far?
This is being put on by a private entity, not the city. You’re welcome to reach out to buildings / organizations further uptown to suggest they host a viewing.
I came to watch but there is nothing on screen at 12:20 even tho women’s match in progress!
Tonight the link was unstable, . Is that going to continue or was it a one-time glitch?
I understand this is weather permitting. Does anyone happen to know if it’ll be on tonight?
