New Yorkers will get a show on Thursday night right in the middle of the city. The “Leap Frogs”, a Navy parachute team, plans to land on the Great Lawn in Central Park between 6 and 6:30 p.m. The Great Lawn is in the middle of the park in the mid-80s.
The event is billed as a “freefall parachute demonstration.” Each member of the Leap Frogs has conducted real-world operations before volunteering to join the group, and they are expected to return to operations after a three-year stint in the group.
Just what this city needed.
You sound like lots of fun. Relax a little.
I’M WITH YOU
Yes we do need this
Something positive for the people who defend and are proud of their nation
Stop all this complain and do a positive thing
Robert:
It’s more regularization of deployment of the military within US cities.
It’s a problem, even if it’s just a fun show to watch.
Talk about a leap in logic. The Leap Frogs have been doing these shows for over 50 years. Has nothing to do with normalizing deployment of the military on American soil. Get a grip.
Oy!
I assume this is to take care of the coyote-monster roaming Central Park.
So more on the “Cloverfield” theme.
Word is, the team will jump from a Lockheed C-130 Hercules. It’s a beautiful machine. First deployed in 1956. Don’t know how much you’ll be able to see of it, if it flies at the planned 7500 feet, but still. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_C-130_Hercules

Wiley E. Coyote has no chance.
I saw the jumpers and had the chance to speak with them afterwards as they were folding their parachutes. I’m glad so many of you kvetchers didn’t show up so that the rest of us could really enjoy the experience.
I wish I knew about the event beforehand. Why wasn’t it published? Are there next events like this?
