Community Board 7 will host a hate crime forum on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. with officials from New York law enforcement to address the rise in hate crime incidents in the city.
Crimes against Asian people in particular have been rising in recent months, and marches have been occurring throughout the city since Asian women were murdered last week in Atlanta. Five attacks against Asians were reported between Friday and Sunday. The DA’s office has not charged some attacks against Asians as hate crimes, raising questions and anger among some people.
Among the speakers at the forum will be ADA Jeanne Olivo, Chief of the Manhattan DA’s Hate Crimes Unit. The Zoom meeting registration is here.
Thank you for continuing to report on these efforts to combat the surge in anti Asian hatred.
