A health food store that was on the ropes is back in fighting shape.
Gary Null’s Whole Foods on 89th Street and Broadway announced last week it was closing.
But after a series of negotiations with its landlords over the last few days, they were able to sign a new lease for 10 years. The store posted a happy sign on the window. Thanks to Alison for sending it in.
More landlords need to do like this and come BACK TO EARTH on rent prices per food.
The old NY ain’t coming back for a LONG time. maybe that’s a good thing. Get some small business back – and make the city great again – not a homogenize conglomerate of banks, big chain stores, corporate groceries, etc.
Oh, yay!! Good news!
Good News for all
WOW!!! AND HE DIDN’T NEED A GO FUND ME PAGE
I am soooooo happy about this! Gives me hope that New York will survive relatively intact. Love this store, Yahoo!!!!
Might be a good time to remove the entire stores contents and clean the place up . Could use a serious scrubbing and some updated lighting .
Yes, and how about fixing the floor that is many accidents waiting or already happened.
Thank goodness!
wow this is fantastic Thank you sponsors
Great news!
Dear Gary Null,
Please add ability to order online and more importantly provide local delivery. This will help increase your sales in the digital pandemic world.
I live a couple blocks away and would gladly pay an offsetting, fair delivery fee.
I want to order from you but haven’t been able to buy from your excellent store since March.
Small business landlords aren’t making big profit. City needs to lower property tax. Landlords are not getting any help from the government. People want free rent but then how are landlords supposed to pay their bills?
My errands were leading me in the opposite direction. Now, I’m reminded of Gary’s great fresh vegetables section, am dreaming of steamed broccoli dressed with a bit of corn oil margarine, maybe a few slices carrots or a leek or two, next to a chunk of canned or fresh salmon plain or with a little of a favorite salad dressing. Wear a mask.
corn oil margarine? the worst for your health. you’re better off with lard. seriously.
There are at least two zero trans fat and good fats vegetable spreads: I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, also Country Crock. Totally delicious, but safe in the recommended amounts. Each has a .com under it’s brand name. Thanks, bon appetit!
I just spoke with the manager, who said the store is under new management (“a company from Connecticut”). Gary Null is “staying on as a consultant,” she said, but the store will still have “Gary Null’s” in its name, and it will feature the same staff, products and store hours.
