Beautiful, heart-wrenching and inspiring statement. Thank you for publishing it. Many of us know and love Scott and send our condolences.
My heartfelt condolences to the entire Stringer Family…your mom lived a long and happy life, always cherish those moments. God Bless!
My deep sympathies. Nothing any anyone can say will lessen the pain of loss.
This goes out to Scott and all others who have lost family members, loved ones and friends in this sad time.
Much empathy and blessings to you and yours Scott.
May the very best memories of your mother shine in your hearts and give comfort to all those who knew her.
Scott, my heart breaks for you! I feel as if I’ve known you through all your good works for our community, and as a fellow Upper West Sider over many years. I admire her from afar for her obvious passion for the Latin people and service to them. Her pleasure in their cultures compelled her to wed Carlos. I share with her as a woman of Jewish heritage who also married a Latin man. And a fervent “student” of Boricua History, Culture, and Art. PURA VIDA as said in Costa Rica.
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother sounds like a wonderful parent, wife, grandmother, and public servant. My deepest condolences.
I had the pleasure of working with her at HRA. Arlene was a wonderful, warm, caring person with a great personality. She will be missed. My condolences to the family.
Condolences from the entire Flehinger family.
My kids and I warmly remember the Xmas Open Houses at Carlos and Arlene’s home during those years we attended, I’m guessing about 1987-1992. My daughter remembers that Arlene came to our shiva when she read that my husband had died, even though we had been out of touch for several years. She was a radiently warm and wonderful human being. I do not know if Scott will get to read this personal tribute, but I do not know where to write to him at home.
Mr. Stringer I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. It is never easy to lose our moms and certainly not at this difficult time. Sending love to you and your family. Be safe. Stay well. We need you.
My condolences to Scott Stringer and his family.
Scott,
Our deepest sympathy. Our prayers are with you and your family.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. It’s never easy to lose a parent, even when they’ve lived a long and full life.
I hope you and your family get through this crisis safely. I want to thank you for all you’ve done for this city and look forward to voting for you again.
Your son is adorable, by the way, and looks like you.
My deepest sympathy to Scott, Carlos and the Stringer-Cuevas family. I spent many an evening in Puerto Rico with Arlene and Carlos enjoying lively and intelligent conversations. Arlene was a beautiful woman, inside and out and will be missed by both her Bronx and Puerto Rico friends.
So very sorry for your loss.

Dear Scott Stringer,
I first heard of you on a sunny day when I was greeted by your mom on a UWS street. This radiant, smiling woman was collecting signatures on a petition to get you on the ballot to run for office. I gladly signed. If more aspiring politicians had such a mom, they would surely be on the ballot of their choice.
Much love and sympathy to you and yours.

Scott and Elyse-heartfelt condolences to you and to Carlos. This tragedy should never have come to you all. Arlene and Carlos are two of the warmest people I’ve met in my 40+ years in the NYC tennis community. May many wonderful memories of this special lady help in getting through this difficult time.
Scott’s father, Ronnie, was a City College classmate of mine, and stayed a lifelong friend. I remember Arlene as a beautiful, talented, caring mother of her two young children at the time. She will be sorely missed in these turbulent times we are living in. Condolences to Scott, and his family.
