Stand-Up NY, a comedy club at 236 West 78th Street, found one unique way to continue letting performers do their thing without exposing their audience to the coronavirus.
“We’re planning a marathon of live stand up comedy at my club with 50 comics performing (without an audience) tomorrow 10am-10:30pm,” StandUp NY founder Dani Zoldan told us. “The all-day show will be live-streamed on our website.”
To watch, people can go to standupny.com and pay $5 or they can get access through a comedy web streaming service called Laugh Pass that the Standup NY founders started.
And comedy isn’t the only thing you can stream. World Yoga Studio at 265 West 72nd Street has put all of its classes online, streaming them using the Zoom application.
The Ballet Spot on 72nd has also moved all of its classes online for on!h $5 a class. And if you’ve never tried a ballet exercise class there is nothing to be shy about since you’ll be doing it in your own living room.

I can’t imagine anything harder for a stand up than doing your act and having no audience react to your jokes.
Probably no different than the reaction I’d get with an audience…
Ha!
Upper West Side Yoga and Wellness has also gone online! All you have to do is sign up as usual at http://www.uwsyoga.com/schedule and then go to their Zoom Room 10 minutes before class at: https://zoom.us/j/9143808389
It’s working really well! We are thrilled to stay open in this way and serve our community. People are joining us from all over the world.
You can also stream performances of the Metropolitan Opera all week, if you go to Metropera.org. They are offering nightly Met Opera Streams. Tonight is La Boheme, Wed. is Il Trovatore, Thurs. is La Traviata, Fri. is La Fille du Regiment, Sat. Lucia de Lammermoor, and Sat. Eugene Onegin. Enjoy!
