The Collegiate School, which is now located between 61st and 62nd Streets near the Hudson River, closed its doors on Friday for a thorough cleaning, according to several media outlets.
The school, at 301 Freedom Place, was one of two private schools to close for a cleaning, according to the Post — the other being Spence on the East Side.
A middle school parent at Collegiate is being monitored for the disease after a recent international trip, reports said.
“One of the parents was exposed to the illness on a recent international trip and the family is now under quarantine, awaiting test results, according to an email Collegiate School headmaster Lee Levison sent to community members on Thursday,” the Post reported. “‘I understand and appreciate the anxiety associated with the dynamic situation regarding COVID-19, so in this instance we are acting in a very conservative manner,’ he wrote.” It’s expected to reopen on Monday.
A few public school teachers at unspecified schools in the city are also being tested after international travel.
Anyone who has been to at-risk countries — currently including China, Iran, Italy, South Korea and Japan — is being asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.
PLEASE!
If one is asked to self-quarantine, PLEASE be thoughtful of such request. Consideration and mindfulness other humans both close and far goes a long way.
I shall think “how would I feel if the shoe was on the other foot?”
Thank you.
