Think he lives downtown now?
Scott Stringer is going to run for mayor in 2021 (surprise, surprise), and indeed wants that job so badly he can taste it.
Thus over course next year until that race begins in earnest, look for Mr. Stringer to use the bully pulpit of his current office.
You are seeing this (or will) from other current elected officials who are term limited out in 2021. That is a very long list and there are only so many spots being made vacant.
Effective teachers should not be terminated by the NYC DOE without cause. NYC DOE unfairly terminated teachers who have been rated effective for three or more consecutive years. Also, many teachers are coerced into signing tenure extension agreements on yearly basis or face termination. Terminated effective teachers and effective teachers given extension agreements are never given anything in writing as to why tenure was denied and what can be done to achieve tenure in the future. Many teachers have signed these agreements for years without achieving tenure. Terminated effective teachers have to wait months or years for a hearing. While they are waiting, their license is terminated so they cannot work in that license area. This egregious policy must be terminated because it stymies educators’ careers and puts them and their families in financial peril. Effective teachers should receive automatic tenure after three years like every other city agencies. The NYC DOE must provide teachers with legitimate reasons why tenure is/was denied within 30 days of the denial. All hearings about tenure should be held within 45 days of notification of termination and the teachers should be allowed to work pending the results of the hearing. NYC DOE must stop arbitrarily denying tenure and stop bullying teachers who have done their jobs and who have not brought dishonor to the profession and have not harmed students. These changes would assure equity and access for all students by providing them with effective educators.
WHAT does your endlessly repetitive rant have to do with Comptroller Singer??? Mr. Singer does a great job, and would be an excellent Mayor. But as Comptroller he has nada (nothing) to do with DoE issues.
Have you contacted the UFT (United Federation of Teachers)? It’s your union! Have you spoken with your school’s union rep? If that rep is not helpful, contact the UFT.
Are you/your office doing any work to effect rent control/stabilization for all.
Present system favoring landlords with buoldings that have market value apartments – unfair, political, the rent for some is too high!
Thank you!
I hope Scott Stringer runs. He is experienced and, as I see it, someone who will work for the good of NYC. I think he knows the ropes and hopefully can use his knowledge and political clout well.
