Lincoln Center kicks off its annual Out of Doors Festival on Wednesday, and the free music, arts and performance extravaganza will keep rocking until August 11.
The festival kicks off on Wednesday with a tribute to Ellis Haizlip, whose variety television show Soul at the Center was “a groundbreaking celebration of jazz, gospel, and rhythm and blues with artists such as Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Ike & Tina Turner, and Labelle.” The evening of music all starts at Damrosch Park on West 62nd between Amsterdam and Columbus at 7 p.m.
Other events include an evening of Latin music followed by a screening of PIxar film Coco in Damrosch Park on Thursday night. There will also be installations, including one called “Shine a Light” in the Lincoln Center plazas over the weekend.
