News:
The State Senate declined to renew New York City’s authorization to operate speed cameras near schools. Without reauthorization, the speed cameras will be turned off on July 25. The mayor and City Council members are pushing the state to do something before then. “Despite calls to bring back the legislature for a special session, both Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie told reporters that they don’t see a special session in the future. Governor Andrew Cuomo, who nominally supported the expansion of the camera program but was a no-show in the legislature this week, did not respond to a question of whether he would call for a special session.”
Reviews of Othello at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater give lots of praise to the actors, but say the show overall fails to wow. “Watching the Public Theater’s new ‘Othello’ is like being on a blind date that, while perfectly pleasant, is never going to ignite into passion,” wrote Ben Brantley.
More disturbing allegations about a local gym owner. “The Upper West Side gym owner who was busted last month for allegedly groping one of his students was arrested again Thursday for allegedly sexually abusing another pupil — a 16-year-old, police said. Raymond Wallace, 40, allegedly squeezed the teen’s butt and thighs from behind while the two were in workout classes at his gym, FIT RxN, on West End Avenue near West 61st Street, police said.”

Love the jacket. The fireworks? Not so much.:)
The fireworks were absolutely amazing – I would even say better than the last Macy’s 4th of July fireworks on the Hudson. The variety and colors were incredible though starting at 10:30pm was a little strange.
