Looking for information on how to recycle different kinds of items, or what sorts of environmental events are coming up? The Upper West Side Recycling Ecoletter is a very helpful resource we recently started getting, and it’s worth getting onto their email list.
You can also download the “hard-to-recycle” list, in case you find yourself with an old computer or bell-bottoms that deserve a new home, or need to get rid of some hazardous materials.

Re: the upcoming Sierra Club’s “Superscrapers Steal Sun & Sky….”
1). The correct term is “SuperTall”, for a building of 300 meters (984 feet) or more. “Super Scraper” is the brand name of certain industrial hand tools, and “Superscraper” sounds like something to help get frozen snow off one’s windshield…or gunk off one’s teeth).
2)As for tall buildings stealing sun and sky….fear not, for neither sun nor sky are being stolen; just ‘borrowed’ for a few minutes.
WHY??? Because the earth rotates (GASP! Are you sure? Or is this more fake news!!), and, as it does, shadows appear to move.
Of course this is simplified science…much less sexy than kvetching about the existence of supertall buildings…especially those inhabited by the super-wealthy (NOT to be confused with the wealthy super).
