Upper West Sider Tsadik Kaplan says he had a run-in Wednesday evening with the man who may well be the next president of these United States. He snapped the photo above and sent us the description below.
“So I’m walking in Penn Station at 7:30pm today and I see Bernie Sanders eating at a table by the Nathan’s/Pizza Hut. No bodyguard, no entourage. Occasionally people who recognized him would say hi and he would shake their hand and say nice to meet you. I know this is not UWS news but I thought it was interesting.”
(Yes, we understand it wasn’t on the UWS, but frankly we couldn’t pass this up.) Sanders was indeed in New York on Wednesday night, appearing on MSNBC and the Jimmy Kimmel show, and apparently celebrating Back to the Future Day. And he’s wearing a blue shirt, just like in Tsadik’s picture.

Tell me, future boy, who's President of the United States in 2017?
"Bernie Sanders."
Bernie Sanders?! From Vermont? pic.twitter.com/saXRY3aguV

Oh, and if you haven’t seen Larry David’s impression of Sanders, you probably should.
“[T]he man who may well be the next president of these United States” ?
As much as I love Bernie and am Feelin’ the Bern, he ain’t gonna be the next president.
ONLY people who live in the “UWS Bubble” (i.e. TOTALLY out-of-touch with most of this country…except maybe for ‘Frisco, Portland, and Boulder) would really believe that a hot-tempered, gravel-voiced, silver-haired, self-proclaimed Quasi-Socialist with a Brooklyn-Jewish speech pattern could become president!
CONSIDER: according to the NYT, there is a strong interest for ex-Mayor Mike to run, considering Trump’s strong lead DESPITE his supposed “billionaire” status, .
But Bloomberg, a real billionaire (AND philanthropist) and certainly LESS controversial and much MORE “corporate-looking” than “The (Heart)Bern” has repeatedly said that the country is NOT ready for a “short, Jewish, divorced billionaire”.
If that is probably true, why would a one-trick-progressivist-pony play well in the “Red” states????
The contortions of your logic make my head hurt. I don’t think Bern will win, unless he gets to run against Trump or Carson whose unsuitability would become obvious in the general election (and the Republican Party elders know that).. but none of your points have any relevance.
By the way, it doesn’t matter how he plays in the red states, or the blue states. Only in the swing states.
Not with that attitude.
Yes, he will be.
Dream on!
And he was interviewed outside Penn Station today by many news organizations.
Next Prez? Heck no!
wanna bet?
While I respect this man for a great many things, his choice of pre- or post-interview fare isn’t one of them.
Fell the (Heart)bern!
While I respect this man for a great many things, his choice of pre- or post-interview fare isn’t one of them.
Feel the (Heart)bern!
How dare he eat at a big-box national chain restaurant! Supporting the inequality-inducing corporatist capitalist machine! What a hypocrite!!
Water in a plastic bottle? Tut tut, Mr. climate change you should be ashamed.
I am praying that Bernie Sanders never becomes president. Reason: I hate socialism and ever-increasing government intervention into the economy.
However, given the leftward drift of America, it would not surprise me if he is elected president.
This is crazy! No people with him? Pizza Hut?!?!
