How much of a creep do you have to be to steal a 93-year-old man’s trike? That’s a rhetorical question. You have to be a big creep — a really really big creep.
Martin, the nonagenarian pictured above and below, parked his beloved motorized trike outside the JCC on 76th street and Amsterdam Avenue on September 29, where someone swiped it. Please call 212-874-6742 if you have any information.
Stealing is a prtetty hurtful thing.
I just hope that the thief is not rationalizing the theft with: ‘they got a lot, and I got nothing’, because that’s no justification.
If Martin doesn’t have email, can someone please relay the following to him?
I’m a fellow tricyclist, and Martin, we had a few lovely conversations about trikes while you and I were riding in Riverside Park. I won’t be riding anymore this season; would you like to borrow mine for the next few weeks until you get a replacement? You look so happy on your bike and at 93, you deserve to feel like a King every single day. So if you need a loaner, please let me know.
(Don’t want to put my personally-identifying info on the Interwebs, but Avi has my contact info.)
interesting…every time I walk past this place (once or twice a week)there’s a cop car with one or two cops in front guarding it.
Hi Fellow cyclist,
I recall having a discussion with a lovely young woman, about 2 years ago. You are very kind, thank you. I had it motorized for climbing hills, but can pedal in some parts Of
the Park.
I am going out today to shop for a scooter, I have grown out of my pedaling days.
Martin
So glad you are getting a scooter! If you change your mind, let me know. 🙂
If it was motorized maybe it got towed or confiscated by the City.
What a bummer! I only know terrible karma awaits the tricycle thief. On the bright side, Martin’s smiling face and active lifestyle absolutely made my week (and it’s only Monday!). 🙂
