The Upper West Side hosts one of the largest Memorial Day ceremonies in the region at the Soldier’s and Sailors Monument at 89th street and Riverside Park. This year Aris Dervis caught a couple of strong shots of the ceremony.
On Friday, Air Force Thunderbirds flew over the neighborhood:

Thanks for covering this. Such an important day for us to remember the fallen.
I know this is late but I have been meaning to post to echo DMH’s sentiment.
How many people think, even for a moment, of what Memorial Day was actually created for? How many people think of Memorial Day as anything more than a day off, the start of the summer vacation season or all the retail sales associated with the holiday?
I would like to note that one need not support war and militarism in order to recognize and appreciate a duty to honor the memory of our countrymen who have perished at war. I believe that those who serve in our military (or at least a percentage thereof) should be viewed as themselves victims of those who send them into the hell of (mostly unnecessary) war. (While remaining safely ensconced, in at least relative opulence, far away.)
