We’ve been getting tons of great Spring photos from readers and we’re happy to share them below.
Photo above by Kristin Mann: “This is a photo of two UWS best friends, Ryan and Teddy, both 2 years old. They are sitting in front of the Straus Park fountain, unposed, to “watch the fountain.” Both of us moms have taken the boys to visit our special neighborhood park all fall and winter long; to play in the snow, take a chilly walk, and to run and explore, always with the premise to check and see “if the fountain was on yet…”. Today, donning their helmets and riding their tiny scooters into the park, they had an unexpected surprise — that the fountain was on! It was so exciting and wondrous for them!” The parks department is currently sprucing up the monument for its 100th anniversary. We wrote about the model who posed for the sculpture here.
The following three photos, by Barbara Migdal, were taken at the West Side Community Garden on 89th street between Columbus and Amsterdam. They’ll be having their tulip festival again this weekend.
Photo below by Elizabeth Meszaros at 90th street and Columbus Avenue. That’s the El Dorado, aglow in the sunset.
The photo below by Wendy is of the magnolia trees in the Broadway median. “Someone had the foresight to plant Magnolia trees many years ago on the tree median that divides Broadway between 85th and approx. 94th Streets on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. They are in full bloom and without a doubt, it’s the most beautiful section of that grand avenue this Spring.”
The three photos below are by Stephen Harmon in Central Park.

Thanks to everyone who sent in photos. If you sent in photos and we didn’t post them, send an email to remind us.

Wonderful. Just a glimpse of our too brief spring.
Where is the Strauss Park fountain?
106th and Broadway.
I visited Strauss Park almost every day in the late 1930’s and
into the mid 1940’s…as kids we never sat and watched the statue, we climbed all over it, it was an adventure that helped us develop climbing skills and self-confidence.
What beautiful photos! I especially love the buildings of “gold”.
Elizabeth,
I love the photo of the Eldorado Towers, they have never looked so lovely. You should print and frame the picture.
I’ve lived in the upper west side for more than 50 years and the Eldorado never looked so majestic! Stunning photo.
