A man was shot several times outside a grocery store on 104th street and Columbus early Sunday morning shortly after 1 a.m., and six people have been arrested for assaulting him after the shooting, according to Captain Marlon Larin of the 24th precinct.
“At 1:12am a male was shot at the corner of West 104 street and Columbus Avenue,” Larin told us in response to emailed questions. “Unknown male did discharge a firearm multiple times striking the victim three times, once in the chest, stomach and leg. He has not expired from the wounds. Six men arrested for assaulting him immediately after the shooting. Still under active investigation.”
The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and listed in critical condition, according to Councilman Mark Levine.
The motive for the shooting is unclear: it’s still under investigation and the police were not ready to release the names of those arrested.

Good luck rent out 5000$ apparetments in the area to someone is not Colombia international student who can’t read the newspaper
English please?
i ask the same thing of Captain Larin.
Yeah screw those CO-SO rip offs. Columbia South… are you kidding me?
WestSide Rag is my #1 go to source for all crime-related stories on the UWS….it is amazing to me how at least once I week I get to read about something horrific occurring in my own backyard…I’m always grateful when I’m not the one who’s been shot, stabbed, mugged, or raped. I feel so blessed to live in this area.
I’m glad that we as a community look out for each other! Just look at those six people who assaulted the shooter! It’s just like the 60s! With all this community spirit and support, the UWS is practically it’s own little commune 🙂
Except they assaulted the one shot, not the shooter. Whoops.
I live right in the area, and I heard the shots at 1am around Manhattan ave then another round down the block at the deli like said in the article
I heard those shots loud and clear, i felt like they were going over my head…thought it was fake, until i heard the first responders arrive. People have no shame and are getting brave.
