A woman walking through Central Park on Wednesday night was assaulted and robbed by a man and woman, according to police.
The woman was walking from the 2/3 subway station at the Northeast corner of the park when she was attacked. amNew York reported that a man attacked her first:
“The 24-year-old woman was walking through the park near West 110th Street at about 11:50 on Wednesday night when a man placed her in a choke hold and threw her to the ground, police said.
A woman then grabbed her bag and the two suspects ran off together.”
There was not a more detailed description of the attackers, but police released the video below:
Anyone with information should call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
Having grown up with the Central Park Jogger case always in my mind, I fear the park at night. Always have, always will.
PLEASE stay out of the park by yourself late at night or even after dark. Especially that area of the park. Just not very smart.
Interesting how the actual assault happened just out of the view of the camera…. Wonder if it was “dumb luck” or street- smarts by the perpetrator.
WSR I don’t think you should put commercials at the beginning of this sort of video. It doesn’t seem appropriate.
Full agree, but it’s from CBS. If we can get it elsewhere, we’ll substitute. WSR
She’s walking in the park 7 hours after sunset. Sometimes it’s hard to find sympathy. She’s extremely lucky it was only her bag that was taken.
