The YMCA and the West Side Campaign Against Hunger are holding fundraising events in the next few weeks.
The YMCA is holding a springs arts gala on April 28 from 6-9 p.m. at The David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center (Broadway between 62nd and 63rd street) to support youth and teen arts programs. The West Side Campaign Against Hunger is holding a lunch on May 13 at 12:30 meant to raise money for its supermarket-style food pantry, which is located in the basement of the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew at 263 West 86th Street and served 115,000 people last year. Demand is rising because of food stamp cuts by Congress, WSCAH says. “One quarter of the $9 billion cut in food stamps enacted this year will come from our neighbors in New York City.” To learn more and buy a ticket, click here.
You can also contribute by check at West Side Campaign Against Hunger/263 West 86th Street/NY, NY 10024. Or contact directly Jeanine Reynolds at 212-362-3662 x112 or jreynolds@wscah.org.
If you need help, pantry hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. & 1-3 p.m. (Please arrive at least a half hour before closing.) Extended pantry hours for working people: Monday 3-6:30 p.m. Customers also work at the pantry in a cooperative model. To learn more call 212-362-3662.
Hope these two events were a success! These are both good causes
