The New York City Ballet commissioned a gorgeous art installation on its floor, and it’s open to the public for this weekend. The street artist JR has placed a 6,500 square foot photograph of 80 dancers posing on crumpled paper on the floor of the ballet theater. People can walk on it (and even lie down next to the dancers).
The installation is on view at the David Koch theater (the big building on the south side of the Lincoln Center plaza) from 10 to 12 p.m. on Saturday and 10 to 1 on Sunday. The Times wrote about the installation here. After this weekend, people can still see the floor when they go to the ballet, but there won’t be public visiting hours.
Also this weekend, there’s a huge book sale at St. Agnes Library on Amsterdam between 81st and 82nd streets and a number of concerts on our calendar.
Thanks for sharing! Would you clarify the Sunday time, please? Do you mean 11 to 1?
