Since people first started staring at screens, the Upper West Side has gotten more than its share of screen time. The newest show to feature the neighborhood is the Michael J. Fox show, which airs on NBC on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m.
So far it’s pretty enjoyable. Fox, Betsy Brandt and Wendell Pierce are all great actors and the show is upbeat, with more funny moments than your average sitcom. The neighborhood shows up a lot. The family lives in what looks like a classic 6 or 7, and there have been numerous scenes around Verdi Square, the plaza at 72nd street and Broadway.
Oddly enough, the show turns specialty market Citarella on 75th and Broadway into a Kosher market called Goldfarb’s (at right, with the Hebrew letters). Other than that, most of the stores on the show look the same (unless we’re missing something).
You can watch the pilot here. Anyone else watching the show?
Hey, look at that, good stuff. Thanks for the heads-up!
