He seems like an adult, with good experience. I am an UWS liberal, but you’d have to drag me kicking and screaming to vote for de Blasio. No substance.
I am very afraid for our City if DeBlasio wins.
There must be checks and balances in government.
Someone who understands that all these social programs are great, but everything costs money and we cannot simply just increase the taxes on the people and companies who already pay the highest taxes in the country. They will leave and we will go back into a freefall like we had in the 70s. Unlike many here, I do not look back at those times (while yes I was young) as a good era for NYC.
Seems like a decent guy and a substantive candidate/leader. I’m planning on voting for him.
YEA, VERILY !!
Sorry, 31 years of teaching high school English does have an effect!)
I AGREE 100+ PERCENT WITH THE ABOVE COMMENTS!
Why? Because Mr. de Blasio appears to be riding the current wave of generalized discontent, sometimes focused on the current administration (NOT going to enter that mine-field!)
BUT…besides ‘tax the wealthy to provide for universal pre-K’ (hmmm…that’s an R.O.I.- Return On Investment – of 25-30 years? and ‘end stop-n-frisk’ (noble, but somewhat debateable — ask the parents of that toddler recently shot in the face and other “inner-city” innocent victims of gun violence)EXACTLY WHAT IS HIS PROGRAM FOR THE CITY TO REVERSE THE CURRENT STATUS QUO???
Until Mr. de Blasio can tell us specifically rather than in vague generalities, I believe Mr. Lhota, as a proven administrator, might be the better choice. Time will tell.
ON TO THE TELEVISED DEBATES !!!
Even though I am a lifelong Democrat, my vote will go to Mr. Lhota. His experience gives me great comfort, and I am a fan of the way he is reaching out beyond his own circle. For me, Mr. DiBlasio has already proven himself a polarizing figure during his campaign. I’d hate to see what he would do as Mayor.
1000% agree. People just don’t seem to get it. You can’t keep piling on people with disposable income and raising only THEIR taxes. Those are exactly the people who are able to leave the city (from a business or personal level) for greener pastures. They obviously have to pay their fair share but this stuff is Economics 101.
You can tax the rich more on a federal level bc in the end of the day 99% of them aren’t going to leave the US due to high tax rates, however, the city level is a WHOLE different story.
The bottom line is that there are bloated Pensions, Unionized labor and programs paying $3400/month per room to house people in this city and THAT is why we don’t have the money to fund Pre-K and other important programs. Not bc people making $500k+ don’t pay enough in City tax!
Enough with these bleeding hearts trying to capitalize on a swinging pendulum. I’m a liberal but come on already. People have to realize you shouldn’t vote for someone just bc they demonize another group and promise you free stuff
I takes both a superior business leader and a consensus-building politician to lead this City. Lhota is clearly both.
Mr de Blasio is just one more polarizing politician. We’ve done that before – doesn’t work – we have moved on.
This will be my first time voting for a Republican! DeBlasio would be a very scary Mayor indeed, and I fear the City would become more dangerous and polarized under his leadership. I met him once and asked him a question, let’s just say he is nothing more than a Technocrat with no connection to real people with real problems living in the real City. Lhota is by far the superior choice.
“Superior business leader” Are you guys familiar with the MTA???
I am indeed familiar with the MTA. Are you familiar with the MTA of 10 years ago? Apparently you are not or have not noticed the positive and revolutionary changes that have taken place.
Please, refresh you memory of the MTA the way it used to be. How quickly we forget.

All changes noted, sir. Been riding the subway for well over 10 years. Not sure how a video from 1987 has any relevance btw. The entire city has changed leaps and bounds since then and the public transit system has a responsibility to keep up – which it has barely done. Stand on the platform at 86th when the express goes by and spot all the riders covering their ears. Spot the service delays and broken down cars. Notice the removal of employees in the stations in the last 5 years.
Are you aware of the consistent rising costs of a Metrocard? The lack of transparency regarding the MTA’s budget and book keeping? The employees who were found to be claiming disability when not disabled? Apparently not.
How quickly we turn a blind eye.
Please please let this decent man be our next mayor.
