Governor Cuomo has decided to shut down MTA subway, bus and commuter train service starting at 7 p.m. as Hurricane Sandy approaches. Subways will start shutting down at 7, and buses will start shutting down at 9.
Service could be down for days: MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota said it will take the MTA 12 hours after the storm is over to get service back up and running. We’re hearing that could mean service is out until Wednesday.
“Bridges and tunnels will be closed on a case by case basis. We don’t anticipate closing airports,” Cuomo said at a press conference.
