Three Upper West Side restaurants are looking for workers, including Momofuku Milk Bar, Dovetail, and an exciting new restaurant that isn’t expected to open for more than a month.
The New York Historical Society at 77th Street and Central Park West has landed on a name for the cafe it will unveil in November after completing its massive renovation: Caffe Storico. The new restaurant, run by restaurateur Stephen Starr and helmed by chef Jim Burke, will have a menu inspired by the cicchetti, or small dishes made in Venice. It’s hiring lots of staff, and will host a job fair on Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at Buddakan, located at 75 Ninth Ave. (for more on that, click here) For more on the restaurant check out the story we published last month. Caffe Storico presented one small dish (a delicious ricotta-filled tortellini in chicken broth shown above in a photo by Melissa Sutherland) at this weekend’s Landmark Feast.
The brand-spanking-new Momofuku Milk Bar on 87th Street and Columbus (pictured above, on opening day Saturday) is looking for baristas, according to an ad they put up yesterday. This is actually actually the company’s second attempt to find people willing to serve their pork buns, bagel bombs and crack pie. (Are not enough people interested, or are they just really picky? I would work there just to tell my friends I did.) David Chang & Co. is willing to pay $9 to $11 plus tips.
And Dovetail, Chef John Fraser’s place on 77th Street just west of Columbus, is also looking for staff, including hosts and reservationists.
Has anyone actually attempted to get even a simple coffee at the new Milk Bar UWS? The service is beyond slow and confused. And on top of this, they do not serve FRESH coffee, it is brewed and then put into a thermos and served essentialy luke warm. No thanks.
