Resist the urge to indulge in two full drunk brunches this weekend. Yes, the summer is almost over and your therapist just left for two weeks, but there’s no reason to despair. Anyway, that’s what I keep telling myself. Isn’t the picture above, from a recent rainy day on Amsterdam Avenue, just great? It was taken by Amy Aglar, who publishes her pictures at Amy Aglar Photography.
Be ready for some rain this weekend, as scattered thunderstorms are expected, mostly on Sunday. If you’re staying inside, check back here. We’ll be updating the blog. See you out there in the neighborhood, or maybe on twitter.
If you do one thing outside this weekend…
Head over to the FlyNY Kite Festival at Pier 1 in Riverside Park (70th Street) starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. Or check out a blowout concert at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield on Sunday at 3 with Rap legend Rakim, EPMD and Funkmaster Flex. Both are free.
If you do one thing inside this weekend…
Join with other “freethinkers” at the Society for Ethical Culture on 64th Street on Saturday at 7 p.m. to discuss how to live an ethical life without God.
For more great local events, check out our weekly calendar.
If you’re traveling…
Check traffic info at traffic.com for delays. As for the subway, there’s some work being done on the C, but there don’t appear to be changes directly affecting the Upper West Side. For more info, check out mta.info.
